Summary: My Hotel Convento stay was comfortable and pleasant. The hotel service was excellent and staff was very helpful and friendly.The old world charm makes this hotel in comparison to other hotels in the area a must experience by all who come to Old San Juan.

Summary: The staff at El Convento was superb. In the wonderful restaurant especially Andrea, Monica Sofia, and Indira were helpful. In our room Edwin was very kind. Everybody was cheerful.

Summary: Nice old hotel with great cloister in the middle. It’s in a wonderful location if you want to visit San Juan. Pool is really small. More like a plunge pool.

Summary: The location can’t be beat, just across the street from the cathedral in Old San Juan. The hotel was a Carmelite convent for hundreds of years prior to being converted into an elegant hotel. The calico hotel cat was everywhere and always ready to be petted. The bell staff and front desk folks were wonderful and provided great tips for dining and sightseeing. Our room was spotless and well appointed, and the bathroom was especially nice. Mattress was on the lumpy side, but we slept fine. The only downfall to El Convento is the patio bar/restaurant in the lobby level. The food was pretty bad, especially for the price, and the service on the evening of our arrival was tragic. We only ate there because we arrived very late and were too tired to venture out. Big mistake. The restaurant did much better on all fronts with the included breakfasts.
